Notes

  1. Open Actions
  2. Administrivia
    1. Reminder: Schema Board nominations open 1 March 2021. Board members at the end of their term: Alan, Keith, Benn, Mario, Terry
  3. Subcommittee status
    1. voPerson - not finished yet. Benn is hoping to see additional progress soon; mostly mechanical work to actually write the revisions, and some minimal review.
  4. Entity Category status
    1. https://incommon.org/community/mace-registries/registrations-in-the-urnmacedirentitlement-namespace/ - Heather has reached out to Ann West to discuss transitioning maintenance of this registry to REFEDS. Keith will follow up with Ann as well.
    2. REFEDS SC voting process for the attribute release entity categories - vote is out this week
  5. Kicking off the eduPersonAnalytics consultation
  6. Status of splitting the eduPerson spec into core and supplemental
    1. Splitting Protocols From Schema Documents
  7. Issues with schacGender (see #refeds channel on the eduGAIN Slack)
    1. Remove or expand values? We don't understand the use cases where this is used and need that information before we suggest removing it, changing the definition, or whether there needs to be many more attributes defined. One possible use case (needs to be validated to see if it's real) relates to financial aid grants/scholarships that are targeted to gender minorities. Note that some languages will vary depending on the gender of the person being addressed. The SEB has consensus that change needs to happen; what the change needs to be will depend on real use cases. Current thinking is that we will change the definition rather than removing the attribute entirely.
    2. Of interest: ACAMP session on gender and pronouns
      • Heather Flanaganto reach out to SCHAC deployers (where known) to ask if/how they are using schacGender.
      • Benjamin Oshrin to reach out to the InCommon Software Integration Working Group to see if any campuses are exploring gender attribute use cases as well
