Discussion Items

 2. SC membership - Tom and Heath membership has been renewed for other two years. Many thanks to boht for accepting to continue.

3. WORKPLAN Updates -

WP1: Management

  • Future meetings - Heath encouraged to participation to next APAN (Singapore or New Zeland).
  • Contracts are now in place:
    • RETI for MET: this will run until the end of 2017 (as per Reti's choice)
    • Heather's contract: now signed for 3 years
    • Ian's contract unresolved due to specific clauses required by our procurement team. Nicole trying to find a solution but it seems a deadlock has been reached. It's difficult to find an alternative as the work Ian would be doing is very specific.

WP2 - WGs

  • OIDCre is alive again - Still no great usage of the list, but work is progressing well. Idea to move some work to an IETF WG
  • Sirtfi - Progressing well, now looking at tools to check compliancy. AARC is a good place to help kick starting/testing.
  • Orcid - Lots of work done up to TNC. The group has been a bit quite after that. Nicole will check what the groups plans are
  • IdP of last resort - Specs are in a good shape (also include self-sign up and categorisation of IdPs). Keith will give updates at TechExc. The aim of the WG is how to assess IdPs of last resourts and what can be expectes.
  • Assurance - WG going very well. MFA profile is now out. Work ongoing to final the differentiated assurance framework and the good entropy profile. Tom noted he is talking to the Globus people who are planning to add some assurance aspects. Tom is promoting REFEDS Assurance WG
  • Entity Cats -  InAcademia is now ready to be pushed out. Requests on use-cases on how to use the tag. SC supports to move ahead and push for consultation.
    • Scott asks the SC to endorse the approach to freeze the RS profile before exploring new flavours. REFEDS should first check the level of adoption by a significant number of IdPs.
    • Heath noted that in AAF IdPs can only exposed to eduGAIN if they support RS.
    • Nicole noted that eduGAIN recommend IdPs to adopt RS and will show the IdPs that support it.
    • SC support the praise and shame approach
  • Proposal that came up @TNC on trust in identity federations - Not a lot has happened so far, there will be a panel at the REFEDS meeting at TecExc.

 WP3 -

  • Update the Discovery guides is being discussed. REFEDS wants to team up with RA21 group. There is no plan to change the content but mostly to revamp the look and feel. How about consent? The guides can be update to cover consent more mostly in relation to the work done elsewhere.
  • Catalogue of services - to enable tagging, searching of services. Heather is collecting requirements.

WP4 - Services

  • MET is running well
  • SCHAC: we need to update SCHAC (still references to TERENA). This is part of Heather's contract.

Next Meetings

  • Only planned meeting at TechExc - draft agenda is online, planned two panels.
  • Still an open question on whether REFEDS should meet at TIIME

Action Items

  • Nicole Harris to check with ORCID on future plans
  • SC as whole agrees to freeze RS until significant IdPs uptake
  • Nicole Harris   to discuss with Heather on SCHAC updates.
  • SC agrees to push InAcademia out for consultation
