Notes

  1. Administrivia
    1. Status of MET - developers are working with GÉANT staff to build their development environment according to GÉANT support requirements. No feedback so far that the timeline is at risk.
    2. R&S 2.0 update - the working group is exploring shifting from the idea of R&S 2.0 to an Identifiable Information (name TBD) entity category along the continuum of Anonymous Authorization and Pseudonymous Authorization. Next call is scheduled for June 10.
    3. Status of REFEDS Strategy - still in progress; expect this to be finalized with the SC and ready to present to REFEDS by our fall meeting.
    4. Fixing the REFEDS Participant's Agreement to require Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License instead of CC BY 3.0.
      • Heather Flanagan to share exactly what the differences are between CC BY 3.0 and CC By 4.0 International
  2. REFEDS meeting planning
    1. Can we handle a pre-recorded session for iFire? Also, can we move that to the top of the Projects slot?
  3. Expanding interest and leadership
    1. Example: Schema Board - why is it important to have a schema board? Because there needs to be a group with enough experience to ask critical questions when new attributes are proposed or new schemas relevant to the R&E space require a home for discussion, maintenance, and general administration.
    2. Gaining more people in leadership roles is probably an issue of both time and interest. How can we convince federations to be willing to pay for people to participate in this kind of work? Think about ways to encourage how to encourage project and grant writers to include line items for participating in the community would be an interesting direction.
    3. Many of the REFEDS participants have known each other for years, since the group first formed. What brought our younger selves to the table? It was new, fun, you could make a difference, it was easy to see how to influence change. Today it's a long, tedious set of processes with people who seem to be stuck on the now-old way of doing things. Then it was more like being an incubator of ideas without so many inherited requirements slowing things down. How can we build an incubator program in REFEDS to replicate the fun, energetic environment from when we first started?
