Administrivia

  • REFEDS 45 - Heath, Alex, Pal, Heather, Nicole, Albert will attend; Thomas will not. Unsure about Maarten. For the meeting itself, we normally focus on heavy discussion with fewer topics than what we do for our summer meeting. We could focus on the new entity categories. Audience will be skewed towards US stakeholders, so maybe a bit more "what is REFEDS and what we do".

    • if we talk about the Assurance profiles, may want to talk about how to implement/roll out (assuming we're done with the consultation at that point). Also a big question about where should Assurance profiles head next. MFA itself is limiting, so what about strong authentication (e.g., passkeys)? These may also be better for ACAMP sessions

    • Assurance Framework is also expected to be ready around December, but won't quite be at the point for a consultation. So, more an update on current work.

    • Lightning talk topic areas

      • Open Access Publishing and federation

      • Digital wallets, VCs, and FIDO are also interesting - at least a teaser, knowing that Niels will be hosting a session at TechEx on the topic. Maybe Leif can talk about this.

2022 Work Plan

  • All working groups are progressing as expected except Future Protocols and MS Azure

    • the MFA profile group is updating the profile text and trying to decouple the profile from its dependence on SAML; that may be something that can inform the Future Protocols group if that ever spins up

    • for the MS Azure group, maybe the InCommon IdP as a Service effort might be a place to look for participants (what can/should you do with Azure to make an IdPas a service work is one of the things they're talking about)

  • Nicole is on tap for updating the MRPS; that should be quick, and dont' really need anything official

  • Community chats should be under meetings on the website

  • Website - specification page table looks good. Question about the URL - sometimes that's the identifier that's used in metadata, and sometimes its a link to the spec itself, and sometimes it's a link to a landing page. SIRTFI is different. What is the URL for? Need to be consistent; originally it was supposed to be a URI, but it didn't stay that way. Suggest we get rid of that column and just link to where we want people to end up where we want them to go.

  • MET - this is just about as done as we expect it to be. Nicole is working with the developers to move the code from a private to a public repository. There is more development that can be done, but until we address the financial situation, we can't really afford to make any changes.

  • Annual Survey

    • last year had a poor response, but we want to see if that's an outlier. We can talk about different ways to promote, but probably no major changes to the survey itself.

      • Include a question of "Are you still the correct contact?"
