    • REFEDS Budget - have not spent much this year; saved a lot in travel. Next year might be a good opportunity to put that money into MET.

      • Suggest 2 RfPs, a smaller than one that reviews the existing code and to gather the requirements, then a larger one that would update and/or re-write the tool.
        • Nicole Harris and Heather will work on the first draft for the RfP, which will involve some interviews with current users.

    1. Nicole has addressed most questions; still one to be added re: government policy roadmaps. The timing will be open to 18-19 December so we don't conflict with the iFire meetings. Goal is to do the analysis in late December and then schedule a read-out to the community in January.

    1. Consultations
      1. Entity Categories - SeamlessAccess WG and SEB members will meet on Tuesday, 10 November, to discuss the revised draft that has taken into account the consultation feedback:
        1. The consultation process and review by the Schema Editorial Board resulted in two major areas of concern: first, that the entity categories were attempting more than one thing at a time (access control and metrics), and second that IdPs would find it impossible to scale support for entitlements across all the different SPs without a controlled vocabulary or a common attribute value format. The proposal from the Schema Board is to remove the requirements for metrics and entitlement entirely. Entitlements may be added back in after work is completed to create the necessary controlled vocabulary or attribute-value format. In addition, other supporting material that offers advice and how-to guidance must be moved to a supporting document (such as a wiki page) and not included in the specification itself.
      2. SIRTFI - did receive feedback and all comments have been addressed as of last week; gut feeling is that not enough federation operators have responded. It is in final edits now, and then it will go over to eduGAIN SC.
  5. Meeting Replacements and Other Ideas
    1. Still need an SC day - what is REFEDS for, who is our target audience, what is our mission/vision? What are medium and long-term goals to achieve that mission/vision? Need to talk about at least recording our relationships with other federation-related groups (FIM4L, FIM4R, iFire, SeamlessAccess)
      • Heather Flanagan to put out doodle poll; we'll look for 2 two-hour blocks, one week apart
    2. Need to consider how to revitalize the REFEDS community outside f2f meetings.
      1. PiDapalooza is doing a 24-hour festival. Is our community large enough for this?
      2. Large meetings like IETF and ICANN schedule based on where they were supposed to be if the f2f meeting had happened.
      3. Pre-recorded lightning talks, then interactive Q&A
      4. Could we come up with a more persistent, online forum?
      5. What about regional events? We will have a session at CAMP, and be mentioned in iFire. Nothing right now for Europe, South America, or Africa.
      6. Aim for a two-hour meeting in January to talk about the results of the REFEDS survey, and to aim for reviving the working groups
    3. To encourage attendence, we might look to REFEDS sponsoring a conference in exchange for some comp codes for Distinguished Engineers. TNC21 will be easier to do this.
